UNITED KINGDOM SPEND 1.3 BILLION ON SUPERCOMPUTER
The UK government spend £ 1.2 billion (around $ 1.6 billion) to create a supercomputer that will improve the accuracy of weather and climate forecasts.
“Predicting severe weather and the effects of climate change will be faster and more accurate than ever before, with the confirmation of £ 1.2bn in government funding to develop a state-of-the-art supercomputer,” – said Minister of Business and Energy Alok Sharma.
He called it an investment in a new supercomputer that will further accelerate the weather forecast, helping people to be more prepared for the weather.
The computer itself will cost £ 850 million. The rest of the money will be spent on related meteorological research.
