Recently, developers have begun to pay more attention to budget holders and residents of devices with slow internet. Lite-versions of their applications are denied of some features, but consume less traffic.

For example, at the end of 2016, Facebook released a lite-version of  branded service Messenger. A similar software are developed by makers of micro-blogging service Twitter. Interestingly, Twitter Lite application is not in the traditional sense of this format. This progressive web application was created in partnership with Google.

Access to Twitter Lite is via the browser, and the user sees it as a a full addition. Twitter Lite runs 30% faster and consumes 70% less traffic. You must in the settings to activate an option for low traffic consumption. In this mode, the image in the feed will not be downloaded automatically and displayed in vague form. Moreover, Twitter Lite can send messages as a normal application.
