THE LARGEST OSEANIC CABLE SYSTEM
Companies Facebook, Google, TE SubCom and Pacific Light Data Communication announced a partnership for the joint construction of the largest oceanic cable system. The official press release describes the implementation of an underwater pipeline length of 12.8 thousand kilometers. The new system could be the first high-speed cable connection between Los Angeles and Hong Kong. Commercial launch is planned for summer 2018. During the construction will use technology C + L, which allows double the bandwidth of the cable over traditional type system C-band. Developers of this technology, the company TE SubCom, assured that it will provide the fastest data transfer with minimal delays.
According to preliminary estimates, the system will record speed of 120 Terabit per second.
