THE JAPANESE CREATES PICTURES IN MICROSOFT EXCEL

The 80-year-old Japanese became famous for the large-scale paintings he created in Microsoft Excel.

Tatsuo Horiuchi, 80, of Japan, began painting about 20 years ago when he retired. The artist did not have extra money for materials, so he decided to master the skill with the help of computer programs. Instead of standard graphic editors, Tatsuo focused on Excel.

Mr Horiuchi said he did not expect success to come quickly, so he “made a 10-year plan”. For the first few years, he learned to display in Excel everything he saw around him, such as vegetables and fruits. Then Tatsuo began to make larger paintings, combining several different motifs. The artist’s popularity came when he won the Excel Authoshape Art Contest.
