SCIENTISTS CREATE DIGITAL CAMERA WITH 3200 MEGAPIXILE EXPANSION

For the first time, was created a camera that shoots with a resolution of 3200 megapixels.

Scientists at the US Department of Energy’s National SLAC Accelerator Laboratory have obtained the world’s first 3,200-megapixel photos using the world’s largest digital camera.

In the future, the camera will be installed on an observation telescope, which is currently being built in Chile at the Vera Rubin Observatory. Once installed, the camera will capture panoramic images of the entire southern hemisphere for ten years. The data will form the basis of the largest astronomical atlas in history – LSST (Legacy Survey of Space and Time). It is estimated that it will include a description of about twenty billion galaxies.
