ORGANIC HEADPHONES CREATED IN FINLAND

These headphones should demonstrate the full potential of synthetic biology, which combines classical biology with engineering.

The idea of making headphones originated from the fact that these production uses a wide variety of non-environmental materials – from solid plastics to flexible mesh and soft tissue.

The Korvaa frame is made of plastic, grown on the basis of lactic acid and baker’s yeast. This material is well decomposed and can be used for 3D printing.

In turn, the pads are made of a fungus that forms an air foam, and the speakers are covered with a net of protein based on spider silk. The rest of the headphones are made of cellulose.2
