NASA SEND MINI HELICOPTER TO RESEARCH MARS

The US aerospace agency NASA has presented a helicopter to go to Mars for research in the summer of 2020.

Vanisa Rupani, an 11th-grader from Alabama, chose the name for the device. She won the NASA competition and proposed to name the helicopter Ingenuity. This spacecraft will be part of the Mars 2020 mission, which will send the rover Perseverance to the Red Planet.

The task of a mini-helicopter weighing 1.8 kilograms and 1.2 meters in diameter will be to study Mars from the air. It can hang for 30 seconds and take high-quality pictures with two cameras. In particular, Ingenuity will be able to help explore hard-to-reach areas, such as caves, craters, rocks.

The Mars 2020 mission is scheduled to start between July 17 and August 5. The rover with a mini-helicopter is scheduled to land on the surface of Mars, namely in the crater of Jezero, on February 18, 2021.
