MOZILLA acquired service for offline reading POCKET
The company Mozilla announced the acquisition of service offline reading Pocket. The cost of the purchase were not disclosed.
Pocket will start as an independent company as part of Mozilla. Founder and CEO of Project Nate Weiner and his team, consisting of 25 people, will continue to work in their office in San Francisco.
The acquisition of Pocket will allow Mozilla to attract new mobile users. This direction is very problematic for the company: in 2015 it had to close a project to create and sell their own smartphones on operating system Firefox OS.
Pocket Service was launched in 2007. It allows to save favorite articles, videos and other content for deferred viewing in offline mode. Currently audience of the project exceeds 10 million users a month.
