DEPENDENCE FROM SMARTPHONE CREATES TO CHANGES IN THE BRAIN
Researchers at the Radiocommunication Society of North America during the annual meeting said that excessive enthusiasm for smartphones entails a number of psychological disorders. Moreover, in some cases, this can be the cause of changes in the human brain. As a confirmation, the results of various studies were conducted, in which people were monitored with the dependence on smartphones.
During the study, magnetic resonance spectroscopy was used to study the brain of 19 adolescents (middle age – 15.9 years), which are overly enthusiastic about smartphones and the Internet. To contrast, the same “independent” participants of the same age were chosen.
Based on the results, Dr. Hyung Suk Sueo, professor of neuroradiology at the Korean University in Seoul, found that addicted adolescents had more pronounced signs of depression, anxiety, insomnia and impulsivity. The test also showed that in comparison with healthy children, the higher ratio of gamma-aminobutyric acid to glutamate-glutamine in the anterior cerebral cortex was dependent.
According to researchers, such changes can be the cause of violations in the cognitive and emotional state of adolescents.
