ASTRONOMERS DETERMINE THE LENGHT OF THE MILKY WAY

Astrophysicists from the University of Durham in England have found that the Milky Way is stretched for 1.9 million light-years.

Professors hope that this data will help them determine the mass of the galaxy in which the solar system is located and the number of galaxies that rotate around it.

To find the end of the Milky Way, astronomers simulated large galaxies on a computer. Scientists estimate that the edge of the Milky Way is about 950 light-years from the center of the galaxy itself.
