Apple plans to unite app stores for iOS and Mac in 2018.

According to the publication, from 2018, software developers will be able to create applications that will equally well interact with touch screens iPhone and iPad and the mouse and touchpad Mac.

Now creators of applications have to develop two different applications for Apple products: one for iOS, the other for macOS. The company’s customers regularly complain about outdated applications for Mac, notes Bloomberg. For example, Twitter for iPhone and iPad is updated regularly, unlike the Mac version.

The project for changing iOS and macOS was called Marzipan. Apple may introduce it in the summer at the annual conference of developers, sources say. Apple spokeswoman declined to comment.

A similar system works with Microsoft, which created the Universal Windows Platform, a platform that allows you to create applications for Windows, Windows Phone, Xbox, HoloLens, and Surface Hub.
