GOOGLE LOON’S INTERNET-AIRLESS WILL APPEAR IN THE COMMERCIAL MARKET IN 2019
The American Alphabet holding, which owns the Google Internet giant, is preparing to present the Loon project on the commercial market.
Briefly recall the essence of the initiative. The idea is to organize Internet connections in remote and hard-to-reach regions at the expense of special balloons that are at stratosphere heights. To control the position of such bullets, airflows and solar energy will be used. The whole system uses complex prediction models of trajectories and takes into account a huge number of different factors.
The development of the project began in the Google X division in 2011, and its official announcement was held in June 2013. It is expected that the system will provide data transfer rates at the level of LTE networks. The equipment installed on the balloon has already been tested in Australia, Latin America and New Zealand.
The current project leader Alastair Westgarth told Loon about the prospect of the initiative. According to him, the concept Loon is planned to turn into a large-scale lucrative business.
Thus, Loon balloons will begin to provide access to the Network to ordinary users already in 2019. About how much this service will cost, while nothing is known.
