NEW TECHNOLOGY WILL DELAY SIMULATES ON PURE WATER

06 (1)

When a patient complains of pain, the doctor has to believe him in a word, because during a routine examination, he can not be sure of the presence or absence of the described symptoms. This is often used by cheaters to obtain recipes for narcotic drugs. However, due to high technologies, such imagined patients will soon decrease.

A group of scientists from the University of Pittsburgh has developed a system of artificial intelligence that can distinguish the simulator from the present patient. Principles of its work are reduced to the analysis of facial expressions of the human face. It is believed that pain sensations indicate movement in the area of the nose and mouth. To enable the system to identify these movements, it was “taught” with a large number of videos showing human pain. For a more reliable result in the analysis of facial expressions, the system takes into account the age, gender and complexity of a person.

According to a study by the University of California, San Diego, the computer is able to recognize the visual manifestations of 85 cases of pain simulation of 100, while an experienced physician – only 55. The creators of the system hope in the future based on their technology to develop a mobile application for smartphones that can use every physician in his work.
