GOOGLE TEACHES SMARTPHONE’S CAMERA TO SHOOT IN THE DARK
Modern smartphones can do a fairly good night shots. One of the engineers of Google, Florian Keynz, trying to correct the situation. He created an experimental app for Android, which allows you to make good shots in almost complete darkness.
The application provides the user with full manual control over exposure, focal length and sensitivity ISO. When the user presses the shutter button, the camera takes a series of 64 images. Then comes the turn of postprocessing. The software analyzes the images by calculating average values for each pixel.
The most stunning in the new technique is that it does not require absolute photographer stabilization. The algorithm can handle even a series of photos taken from hand without a tripod. Of course, technology is not suitable for shooting moving objects. Postprocessing requires very serious computing power, so it has to carry out with the help of a PC.
Meanwhile, the application requires additional grinding and optimization. If Google decides to release it on the market (which is very likely), you can make stunning night shots, which is not even dream.
