Korean scientists have created an elastic sensor surface
South Korean researchers from Seoul National University has developed an entirely new way to interact with digital devices. They created a flexible touch panel that can be a real boon for manufacturers of flexible touch screens.
Basis of the panel is poliakrilamid hydrogel which contains lithium chloride salt. These salts are conductors and help retain water in hydrogels. This connection does not require a solid support and is very elastic.
During testing elastic touchpad withstand stretching up to 1000% of its normal state, which is an impressive figure. Applications for the new technology can be extremely varied, ranging from medicine, ending smartphones.
