Bioengineers in the United States have developed a glove that can translate words into sign language into real-time speech.

The device is equipped with thin sensors that can stretch. They touch the fingertips. These sensors send signals to a small electronic board the size of a coin that the user wears on his wrist. Each time the person wearing the glove moves his hand and fingers, showing gestures, the glove recognizes them as words, numbers or individual letters, which are then voiced by the smartphone.

Additional sensors can also be connected to the face, in particular between the eyebrow and the corner of the mouth to capture facial expressions. The system is able to recognize 660 gestures, including individual letters of the alphabet and numbers from 0 to 9. The speed of such translation is one word per second.
