MUSIC PLAYER PLAY VIOLIN DURING THE BRAIN PROCEDURE

In 2013, Dagmar Turner, a professional violinist, was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor, and last year doctors decided to have a woman undergo surgery.

Discussing all the nuances with the Royal College of London physicians, Turner suggested that she play the violin during surgery – so doctors would know which areas of the organ would not be affected.

After the start of surgery under general anesthesia, the woman was awakened to play on the instrument. Doctors had to adjust the operation at the request of the violinist, in particular, to take into account the movements of the bow and the length of the strings.

The operation was successful and two weeks later Dagmar Turner had the opportunity to speak to the public again.
