NASA DISCOVERED THE VAMPIRE STAR IN SPACE
The US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has discovered in space a star that periodically “steals” material from its neighbor, forming with it a dual star system.
The system consists of white and brown dwarfs. The latter makes a spin around his companion every 83 minutes at a distance of about 400 thousand kilometers.
The stars are so close that the white dwarf pulls the substance from a neighbor like a “vampire”. It forms a disk around a white dwarf. When the amount of matter reaches peak values, the disk flares, the brightness of the white dwarf increases 1600 times, and then it goes out again.
Scientists also say that the white dwarf is a nucleus left over from an aging star similar to the sun. The brown dwarf is a space object of mass from 10 to 80 Jupiter, but because of its small size is not capable of nuclear fusion.
