UBER EATS INTRODUCES DRONS FOR FOOD DELIVERY
Uber has introduced a new type of drone to deliver orders with Uber Eats.
The device uses “innovative rotating six-rotor wings” to better ensure vertical take-off. In the future, the company also plans to use similar rotary wings in the Uber air taxi, which is scheduled for 2020.
The maximum delivery time for a drone is eight minutes, including loading and unloading. Its cruising altitude will be no higher than 120 meters, the total flight range will be about 28 km without cargo and 19 km with one order.
The drone has already undergone a “critical design analysis”, and the first test flights will take place by the end of the year. The service is scheduled to launch in 2020 in San Diego.
