HYUNDAI LAUNCHES UNMANNED TAXI IN CALIFORNIA
Hyundai, in collaboration with Pony.ai, introduced BotRide, a shared stand-unmanned taxi service operating on public roads.
“The pilot project introduces BotRide to hundreds of Irvine residents, including college students. The goal is to explore consumer behavior in an autonomous car-sharing environment, ”said Christopher Chang, Hyundai Motor Company’s Head of Business, Strategy and Technology Development.
The user can call the car through a mobile application, after which the taxi with an engine behind the wheel will come to him and take him to the desired point in the testing area. As part of the test, the trip will be free of charge in a limited area.
