INSTAGRAM FEEDS TO REMOVE LIKES
In some countries of the world, including Australia and Japan, Instagram has begun to conceal the number of likes under letters to “dampen” users.
The trial version starts on Thursday, which means users will see the user’s name under the messages, and not the number of likes under the posts. Research shows that such kind of instant feedback on content can increase self-esteem, but reduce it to others if they do not receive so much likes.
Instagram launched a similar test in Canada in May, and has now expanded its geography to Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Italy, Japan and Brazil.
The company hopes that in this way, users will be able to focus on sharing what they like and do not get tired of likeing.
