THE VENETIAN MOTOR SHIP WILL WORK ON THE OLIVE OIL
As part of the environmental program in Venice goverment decided to transfer Venetian route motor ships, the so-called vaporetto, to a new kind of fuel – olive oil.
Vaporetto consumes a lot of fuel, contaminating water and the environment. Therefore, the authorities came to the conclusion that the use of alternative fuels should significantly reduce harmful emissions.
According to the initiators of the project, olive oil for ships will be supplied from local cafes and restaurants that use this oil for frying. Before using olive oil as a fuel, it must undergo a filtration and recycling process at the Porto Margherit plant, after which it will produce environmentally friendly fuel.
