MOBILE INTERNET APPEARED IN CUBA
The local mobile operator, ETECSA, has begun to “distribute” mobile internet to Cubans. But not all can use this service.
At the moment, mobile Internet is available for journalists, companies and embassies. Cuban authorities assure that by the end of this year 3G will be able to use all subscribers of the country.
Cuban reporter Juris Noridou, who became one of the first subscribers to the mobile Internet, called the 3G connection a “radical change”. “I can download the news anywhere, including from the scene of events,” – said Norido.
The exact cost of the fare for local residents is still unknown. But companies and embassies are paying about $ 45 a month for 4GB of mobile Internet.
