INDIAN UNIVERSITY OF GRADUATION IN VIRTUAL REALITY

The Indian University of Technology in Bombay held a graduation ceremony for two thousand students, each of whom created their own avatar.

Student avatars first took to the stage to receive diplomas, and then were able to communicate with each other in a virtual model of the university campus. The university said it did not want to deprive students of graduation due to a pandemic, so they moved the ceremony to the virtual world.

“To ensure access to virtual reality for all our graduates, not only modern technology was needed, but also the enormous efforts of our professors and staff. They did it for students. We hope this will inspire our graduates and other engineers to think big and innovatively.” – said the director of the university Subhasis Chauduri.
