In honor of World Emoji Day, Google has announced the start of beta testing of a new version of its Gboard.

Google Gboard gets a new shortcut to emoticons. The company is also adding 117 new emoticons to Android 11, which should appear this fall.

Google has given animals a “more natural look.” A bison, a beaver, a polar bear, and an updated turtle have appeared. The company developed them in collaboration with the Monterey Bay Aquarium and the Victoria Bug Zoo. Some emojis have also been optimized for a dark theme.

The new emoji feature will soon be available to all Android users.
